Asus has just introduced two new LED-backlit LCD monitors with IPS and VA panels in a slim frame. Both monitors are part of the manufacturer’s Designo lineup; with the 23-inch ML239H and 24-inch ML249H Asus promises significantly improved image quality compared to previous Designo screens. This is undoubtedly true, since previous offerings in the series came with cheap TN panels.
Asus’ Designo series was launched a couple of years ago, but the two new models are the first to be equipped with IPS and VA panels focusing on professional image quality. The monitors have a very characteristic and thin design, in glossy black with an included stand that swivels and tilts. You will be able to connect the monitors via either analog VGA (D-SUB) or HDMI.
The 24-inch model – ML249H – houses a VA panel with a very high contrast ratio of 3000:1 and somewhat less impressive 8ms response time. The 23-inch ML239H comes with an IPS panel with 1000:1 contrast ratio and 5 ms response time. A few common denominators for both models is a 1920×1080 resolution, 250 cd/m2 brightness 178/178 viewing angles. Both are LED back-lit to reduce power consumption improve brightness.
