EA232WMi: New LED-Backlit IPS from NEC

The NEC EA231WMi is a popular and quite affordable IPS monitor, and now NEC has announced that it’s time for an update. Their new 23-inch MultiSync EA232WMi also gets an IPS panel as well as LED back-light for increased brightness as well as energy savings.

NEC says that using LED backlighting in the EA232WMi reduces the energy consumption to 31W instead of 43W in the current EA231WMi (which does not have LED). Other than new back lighting, the new 23″ NEC display comes with a resolution of 1920×1080 in the 16:9 ratio, 178/178 degree viewing angles and 14ms response time.

The display can be connected via DVI, DisplayPort or analogue D-SUB (VGA). It also has a built-in 4-port USB hub. Full specifications here.

The MultiSync EA232WMi is expect to ship in the beginning of 2011. It will be available in both black and silvery white varieties. Prices have yet to be revealed, but since its predecessor was relatively inexpensive, the EA232WMi hopefully keeps that tradition going.
