In conjunction with the launch of 8 new low-cost monitors with LED backlight, Dell promises that there is a 21.5-inch multi-touch touch screen display with an IPS panel on its way. The multi-touch IPS should be available later this year, although no exact date has been specified.
Dell already has several IPS monitors on the market, including U2311, U2410, and U2711, as well as the SX2210T touch screen monitor. The latter is only equipped with a TN panel, but considering Dell has all the technology at their disposal already should make it relatively simple to implement touch functionality in an IPS display.
It would seem likely that the upcoming 21.5-inch screen uses the same infrared multi-touch technology as the one integrated in the current SX2210T. Watch this space for updates on the upcoming monitor.
