Gaming IPS Monitor from LG

Until recently, IPS panels have been quite unsuitable for gaming due to the increased response time – a few milliseconds actually matter when it comes to fast-paced games, making TN panels a better choice overall. Thanks to the greatly reduced lag in new IPS panels, however, gamers now have the option to go with a high-end monitor with improved image quality and viewing angles without sacrificing response time.

LG is targeting gamers outright with their new E70V model. Besides the IPS panel it also has W-LED backlighting, and is further optimized for gaming with LG’s Thru-mode, which eliminates input lag and ensures a super duper gaming experience. The LG E70V was unveiled at CES and all specifications have not yet been released. We know that it offers Full HD resolution (1920×1080) and 300 cd/m2 brightness. It also comes with a remote a PIP (picture-in-picture) feature, which probably means that the monitor has a built-in TV tuner. E70V can be connected via D-SUB, DVI or one of the two HDMI inputs.

The interesting Thru mode in the E70V series it is supposed to reduce input lag to zero, which would ensure that any game runs without any delay whatsoever. The showcased E70V is 27 inches, but it could be part of a series with several different sizes.
